A&L were engaged by Scottish water to fabricate and install a new mixer arm located within Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) mixer tank at Greenock Water Treatment Works.
The initial scope of the project was to remove, fabricate and install a like for like mixer arm within the tank. Whilst engage on site; A&L engineers identified fatigues fractures along the length of the drive shaft.
Site repairs were carried out to remedy the identify fractures enhancing the lifespan of the existing component.
Project Description: A&L was commissioned by Scottish Water to fabricate and install a new mixer arm within the Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) mixer tank at the Greenock Water Treatment Works.
Sub-Contractors: Camscaff Ltd. (scaffolding )
Scope of Work: The primary objective was to remove the existing mixer arm and install a newly fabricated, identical component.
Site Findings and Actions: During the on-site engagement, A&L engineers identified fatigue fractures along the drive shaft. Immediate repairs were carried out to address these fractures, thereby extending the component’s lifespan.
Materials: The new mixer arm was fabricated from 316 stainless steel, ensuring compliance with Scottish Water standards and specifications. This material choice guarantees maximum durability and lifespan of the new mixer arm.
